VolunTeen Opportunities at Penn Medicine Princeton Health

The VolunTeen program offers local high school students, ages 15-17 and who have completed their freshman year, the opportunity to gain exposure to a medical environment while also giving back to the community.

What Would Make a Good Volunteer

  • Maturity and willingness to adhere to hospital policies and procedures
  • Professional and positive attitude toward staff, patients and visitors
  • Commitment to entire length of program and consistent attendance

What We Offer

  • Service to your community
  • Opportunity to gain a certificate of service of completing 50 hours of service
  • On-going volunteer appreciation and acknowledgement

What We Require

  • Weekly attendance during the session, with one week of vacation
  • Application, interview and medical clearances
  • Hospital orientation and training prior to start of an assignment
  • Must be 15 years of age or older and have completed freshman year

What We Do Not Provide

  • Shadowing or observation opportunities
  • Weekend assignments, all assignments are scheduled Monday-Friday, 9 am - 7 pm
  • Course credits or internships

What Volunteer Opportunities are Available

  • We will discuss your interests and needs during the interview process
  • Placements are based on organizational need and the qualifications, skills and background of the individual volunteer
  • Assignments for volunteers consist primarily of clerical, administrative, and logistical tasks
