Princeton Health Princeton Health
Princeton Medical Center, a unit of Princeton Health, has been a leading teaching hospital for more than 40 years. We unite the superior quality care that patients receive at an academic hospital with an exceptional level of personal caring. This is just one of the many ways we are Redefining Care for our patients and their families.

Princeton Medical Center (PMC) is the cornerstone of a 171-acre healthcare campus off Route 1, extending from Scudders Mill Road to Plainsboro Road and from Plainsboro Road to the Millstone River, in the community of Plainsboro Township, N.J. The health campus includes a new hospital, attached medical office building, education center, skilled nursing facility, and park. Other uses that will help to enhance the health well-being of Central Jersey residents include a health and fitness center, long-term care facility and assisted living facility, and the possibility of a pediatric services center.

Established in 1919, the new Princeton Medical Center facility has 231 single patient rooms with welcoming décor and amenities that reduce stress and anxiety, while minimizing hospital-acquired infections, improving patient safety, enhancing privacy, improving communications and confidentiality, and speeding recovery. As a University Hospital Affiliate of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and an affiliate of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, Princeton Medical Center integrates our care with advanced technologies, diagnostics and treatment protocols. PMC is also a member of the Association of American Medical College's prestigious Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH).

In July 2009, PMC entered into an exciting partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to enhance pediatric services available at the hospital through pediatric emergency consultation, inpatient pediatric care and neonatal care, as part of CHOP Newborn & Pediatric Care at PMC. Since September 2011, Princeton Medical Center has partnered with Penn Medicine to offer advanced care for expectant mothers in need of specialized services and round-the-clock access to board certified obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, anesthesiologists, neonatologists and pediatricians, through Penn Maternal Fetal Medicine at PMC.

Indicative of our exceptional clinical care, PMC was named one of the nation’s Top Performers for the third straight year on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America. The Joint Commission recognizes accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals that attain and sustain excellence in accountability measure performance. PMC is one of only 182 hospitals in the United States to earn this recognition from The Joint Commission three years in a row.

PMC has earned national accreditation recognizing the excellence of its full spectrum of breast care, from preventive services such as mammography to the most advanced cancer treatments. The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons, awarded the three-year full accreditation to the breast care services provided at PMC and the PMC Breast Health Center in East Windsor.

In addition to this recognition, PMC is a state-recognized Primary Stroke Center with advanced certification as a Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and recipient of the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) and the AHA/ASA’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award.

We also have a skilled medical staff that includes a high percentage of board certified physicians.

In November 2012, PMC achieved Magnet® status, the highest institutional recognition available for nursing excellence. The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association, developed the Magnet Recognition Program® to acknowledge superior patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in professional nursing practice. PMC is one of 395 Magnet-recognized organizations, that represent less than 5 percent of hospitals nationwide.

Princeton Medical Center is committed to Redefining Care by continually enhancing the quality of the care we provide and improving the health of the communities we serve.
