W. Thomas Gutowski, III, MD,
Honored as Physician Philanthropist of the Year
On February 11, 2016, the PHCS Foundation presented the 2016 Physician Philanthropist of the Year Award to W. Thomas Gutowski, III, MD, Medical Director of the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement at UMCP.
Dr. Gutowski (left) received the award from Dr. Donald F. Denny, MD, board certified radiologist, Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs at PHCS and 2015 Physician Philanthropist Award recipient.
The Foundation presents the award annually to a UMCP physician whose service and leadership as a volunteer have enhanced not only the PHCS Foundation's fundraising goals but also the missions of other nonprofit organizations throughout the greater central New Jersey community. Dr. Gutowski is the fifth recipient of the award. Previous awardees included William P. Burks, MD, Peter I. Yi, MD, and Margaret L. Lancefield, MD, PhD, Donald F. Denny, MD.
Dr. Gutowski joined the Princeton HealthCare System Foundation Board of Directors on March 24, 2014. He has served as a PHCS Trustee, as the President of the Medical and Dental staff at UMCP and on the Physicians Development Committee. During the Design for Healing Campaign, Dr. Gutowski was instrumental in helping the Foundation secure two seven figure gifts. He has also served on the executive committee of the Mercer County Medical Society and is currently a board member of the Princeton Individual Practice Association.
