Project Manager – Improvement Initiatives
As Project Manager for Improvement Initiatives at Princeton Health, Marcus A. Garand ensures projects and process improvements are successfully implemented, stay within scope, and meet or exceed expectations. Marcus is a Lean Six Sigma® Black Belt and is skilled at applying Lean Six Sigma® tools to healthcare processes to ensure effective and efficient operations, and improve care. Marcus has more than 15 years of healthcare experience as a clinician and process improvement leader. He joined Princeton Health in 2007 as the Patient Services Nutrition Manager and quickly identified and developed quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient meal service. In 2010, he was appointed to serve as the operational planner for the relocation of Princeton Medical Center (PMC) to its new location. In that capacity, Marcus worked with multiple teams to develop and implement operational systems for every department in the hospital, successfully facilitating the complete realignment of hospital operations. Over the past five years, Marcus has assisted Princeton Health in achieving millions of dollars of cost savings by identifying and pursuing opportunities to improve the quality and design of work processes.
Marcus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition/Dietetics from the University of Vermont. He completed graduate coursework in research methodology and critical care nutrition at the University of Illinois in Chicago and participated in the Project Management Program at Rutgers Business School. Marcus earned his Lean Six Sigma® Black Belt from Villanova University.
