Deborah Casarella is the Entity Information Officer (EIO) at Penn Medicine Princeton Health. She joined the organization in November 2009, as Director of Clinical Applications and subsequently assumed responsibility for Financial and Administrative Applications and Project Management. As Princeton HealthCare System merged with Penn Medicine, she transitioned to Project Director for the implementation PennChart, Penn Medicine’s electronic medical records system. She organized and lead the PennChart operational, clinical and technical teams to a successful implementation. She later became Interim Vice President and CIO before becoming Entity Information Officer.

Ms. Casarella has over thirty years of healthcare experience in a variety of areas including Health Information Management, Health System Leadership, Business Process Improvement, Data Quality and Reporting, and Technology Management. Prior to joining Penn Medicine, she held senior-level positions in several healthcare organizations including New Solutions, Inc., Beacon Health Informatics, and HIP of NJ.

She earned her MBA from Rutgers University, Executive MBA Program and her bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from Kean University. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and Healthcare Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
