Vice President, Human Resources
Christiane Schmidt is Vice President, Human Resources, of Princeton Health. Ms. Schmidt works closely with management to support and respond to the needs of Princeton Health’ 3,000 employees. Her responsibilities include planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the Human Resources Department. This includes talent management, compensation, benefits administration, wellness, employee relations, employee training/development, ensuring compliance with governmental law and regulations related to personnel management, and development and administration of policies and procedures. She also provides operational oversight for Religious Ministries, the Volunteer Services Department and Princeton Occupational Health.
Ms. Schmidt has more than 30 years of healthcare human resources experience. She served as the Director of Human Resource Operations for Princeton Health for six years before she was promoted to Vice President in 2017.
Ms. Schmidt previously served as Vice President of Benefits, Compensation & HRIS for Mercy Health System in Conshohocken, Pa., a 6,000-employee, four-hospital system with a home care agency. She was also the Chief Human Resources Officer for the Clinical Practices of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the faculty practice plan of Penn Medicine, with 2,100 employees and 1,200 faculty.
Ms. Schmidt received her bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She is a Baldrige Examiner, is certified as a Lean Six Sigma yellow belt, and is fluent in German.
In her spare time she also leads the Women’s Auxiliary of the German Society of Pennsylvania, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1900 that raises funds for scholarships, local charities and programs that support German language and culture.
