UMCPP Adds Gynecologic Oncology To its Nationally Recognized Cancer Services

University Medical Center of Princeton at
Plainsboro (UMCPP) has added gynecologic oncology to the nationally
recognized cancer services it provides to patients.
Through a partnership between Cooper University Health Care and
Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS), gynecologic oncologists are on the
UMCPP campus weekly, performing procedures in UMCPP’s state-of-the-art
surgical facilities and seeing patients in the Medical Arts Pavilion
adjacent to the hospital.

James K. Aikins Jr., MD, FACOG, FACS
Director of Research for Cooper’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology
and Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program.Dr. Aikins
is board certified in gynecologic oncology and provides a broad range of treatment therapies and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
David P. Warshal, MD, FACOG
Director of the Gynecologic Cancer Center at the Cooper Cancer

This exciting collaboration enhances UMCPP’s exceptional cancer
program and enables it to offer treatment to patients who in the past
would have been referred elsewhere if they needed gynecologic oncology
UMCPP, home to the Edward & Marie Matthews Center for Cancer Care,
is a University Hospital Affiliate of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson
Medical School, an affiliate of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey,
an accredited comprehensive community cancer program of the American
College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC) and recipient of the
CoC’s Outstanding Achievement Award.
Through its affiliation with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey,
UMCPP offers access to state-of-the-art clinical trials and to genetic
counseling and testing for patients at risk of developing breast,
ovarian, colon and uterine cancers. The UMCPP Breast Health Center
holds a full accreditation from the National Accreditation Program for
Breast Centers, signifying that patients have access to comprehensive,
high-quality care and information about ongoing clinical trials and new
treatment options. UMCPP also has been designated as a Breast Imaging
Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology, a distinction
earned by only 5 percent of facilities nationwide.
