PHCS Surgeon to Discuss Safe, Effective Treatments for Obesity

Lisa Dobruskin, MD, FACS, a board certified surgeon specializing in weight-loss procedures, will discuss the benefits of bariatric surgery and respond to questions from online audience members during a Web chat hosted by Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) on Thursday, April 24.

Dr. Dobruskin will discuss bariatric surgery as a safe, effective treatment for obesity and the other diseases it can cause, including diabetes, high blood pressure, infertility and sleep apnea.

A member of the PHCS Medical Staff, Dr. Dobruskin performs procedures at University Medical Center of Princeton (UMCP) in Plainsboro, which has been recognized as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery.

She has performed more than 600 bariatric procedures, specializing in sleeve gastrectomy, a surgical procedure that reduces the volume of a person's stomach. Dr. Dobruskin was among the first surgeons in the area to perform laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
