Bob's Blankie Brigade Makes Delivery to UMCPP

Dec 31, 2012
University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) received a donation of 87 handmade blankets and quilts and 234 knitted and crocheted preemie and pediatric caps and chemo caps from Bob’s Blankie Brigade, a nonprofit dedicated to serving people who are seriously ill or in need.

Greg Carter, Director of Annual Giving at Princeton HealthCare System Foundation, said the blankets, quilts and hats, which came in a range of colors and sizes, will be distributed to patients at UMCPP’s Edward & Marie Matthews Center for Cancer Care, the neonatal intermediate care unit, and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Community Health Center.

“We are thankful to receive these gifts, which will provide needed warmth and comfort to so many of our patients during this holiday season,” Mr. Carter said.

“Our volunteers continue to be very busy quilting, knitting and crocheting beautiful hats, blankets and quilts for a wonderful cause,” said Helaine Lobman, president of Bob’s Blankie Brigade. “Bob’s Blankie Brigade has dedicated volunteers around the country—in 10 states including New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Virginia, Tennessee, Arkansas and California. Since we began operations, we have distributed over 1,000 blankets and quilts and over 900 caps to hospitals in Florida, Pennsylvania and, of course, here in New Jersey, along with domestic violence shelters.”
