Free Educational Program on Weight Loss Surgery

Apr 21, 2010

Learn more about how bariatric surgery can help people overcome severe obesity and the damaging health effects of being overweight at a free educational program on Saturday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at University Medical Center at Princeton (UMCP), Ground Floor Conference Room B, 253 Witherspoon Street, Princeton.

The program, titled "Overcoming Obesity: Weight Loss Surgery Update," will feature presentations by board certified surgeons Wai-Yip Chau, MD, and Robert E. Brolin, MD, FACS, former president of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. Doctors Chau and Brolin will discuss weight loss surgery options and answer questions about gastric bypass surgery and the latest laparoscopic band procedure to fight morbid obesity. Morbid obesity is generally considered being 100 or more pounds overweight or having a body mass index (BMI) of 40kg/m2 or greater. Damaging health effects of being overweight may include diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and infertility.

This event is free to the public, but registration is required. To register, please call 1-888-897-8979 or click here.
