Top-Rated Pediatric Care at the Top-Rated UMCP
Since 2009, physicians and other health professionals from CHOP have been providing services for children at UMCP as part of CHOP Pediatric Care at UMCP (Pediatric Unit) and CHOP Newborn Care at UMCP (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit*). This partnership combines the skills of two top-rated facilities:
CHOP is one of the top-ranked hospitals on U.S. News & World Report's 2015-2016 Honor Roll of the nation's Best Children's Hospitals and was the only hospital in the region named to this prestigious list. CHOP also ranked in the top 10 for all 10 specialties surveyed by U.S. News & World Report.
UMCP is one of only 40 hospitals nationwide named high performing for every procedure and medical condition in which it was rated in U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals for Common Care ratings.
CHOP Pediatric Emergency Care at UMCP: Center for Emergency Care
A CHOP hospitalist - a physician who specializes in caring for patients in the hospital setting and who does not have an outpatient medical practice - is on-site 24/7 to consult on emergency cases involving infants, children and adolescents in UMCP's Emergency Department. Outstanding, timely care is delivered by a skilled clinical team that includes board certified emergency medicine physicians and specially trained physician assistants and nurses who work directly with the pediatric hospitalists to provide age-appropriate care to all pediatric patients.
To further enhance the comfort and care of pediatric patients and their families, our state-of-the-art emergency department features an area specifically designated for infants, children and adolescents who require acute care.
CHOP Pediatric Care at UMCP: Regan Family Center for Pediatric Care
A CHOP pediatric hospitalist is on-site around-the-clock to care for children and adolescents who are admitted to UMCP's Regan Family Center for Pediatric Care. The CHOP pediatric hospitalist program supports the work of pediatricians currently on staff at UMCP.
UMCP’s 12-bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit is fully secure and features all private, single-patient rooms that can accommodate a parent or family member who would like to remain with the patient throughout his or her stay. Care is given around-the-clock by nurses who specialize in pediatric inpatient care.
CHOP Newborn Care at UMCP: Center for Maternal & Newborn Care
At University Medical Center of Princeton, we provide skilled and sensitive management of high-risk pregnancies through our affiliation with Penn Medicine’s Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine, as well as outstanding care
for newborns in the Well Baby Nursery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)* through our partnership with the CHOP Care Network.
This collaboration facilitates advanced, comprehensive care for mothers and babies, from prenatal diagnosis and therapy, through postnatal treatment and care. Neonatal care is delivered by a team of CHOP’s highly skilled, board certified neonatologists and certified neonatal nurses. A neonatologist from The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia is on-site 24/7 to attend high-risk deliveries and to provide care to newborns.
Partners in Staff Education
All PHCS physicians and employees who care for children will have access to the educational services, programs and resources of CHOP's Education Programs, as well as educational programs offered by UMCP. CHOP will also provide PHCS with consultation on timely pediatric issues (i.e., the development of pediatric facilities, enhancing family-centered care, etc.) on an intermittent basis.
