UMCPP's Outpatient Rehabilitation Network provides comprehensive rehabilitation services, including:
Therapy for Back & Neck Pain
Therapy is designed to relieve pain and improve muscular flexibility and strength. The therapist uses specific treatments and techniques based on the patient's preferences and response to treatment. These techniques include McKenzie, dynamic lumbar stabilization, postural awareness and mobilization.
To manage and relieve pain in patients with chronic pain, we offer comprehensive treatment that includes a wide range of modalities, manual therapy and flexibility exercises. These therapies are offered in conjunction with home exercise routines.
Neurological Rehabilitation & Multiple Sclerosis
Rehabilitation can provide significant benefits to an individual with MS, Parkinson's disease, stroke or other neurological diagnoses. Physical and occupational therapy can decrease dizziness, falls and spasticity, while improving strength, mobility and balance.
Hip and Knee Surgery Rehabilitation
Post-surgical exercises emphasize stretching and strengthening of the hip or knee after replacement, reconstruction or cartilage removal.
These are therapeutic activities for those with balance disorders, designed to help improve balance, reduce likelihood of falls and decrease dizziness.
Ergonomic Assessments & Industrial Rehabilitation
Our staff conducts on-site postural and functional assessments of your worksite, helping you better utilize muscle strength and function, while reducing pain or chance of injury at work.
Treatments for sensory integration and functional activities help restore and maximize a child's physical level of activity. Parent/child education is a major component of our care.
Rehabilitation for Sports Injuries
Sports-specific rehabilitation programs are designed to improve flexibility, joint stability, endurance and conditioning to return to sporting activities. We offer specialized treatment programs for golf, tennis, swimming, basketball and baseball.
Designed to evaluate and treat dancers based on their individual needs, this program uses dance-specific therapeutic activities to help dancers return to and even exceed their prior level of performance and reach their individual performance goals.
Certified Hand Therapy
Our certified hand therapist evaluates and designs an individualized program to help you recover from various procedures and injuries, including post-surgical care, tendon and nerve injuries, scar management and desensitization, and nerve compression syndromes, such as Carpal Tunnel arthritis. In addition, the hand therapist fits and makes custom-fabricated splints on-site for pre-/postoperative, post-injury and functional use.
Women's Health Therapy
Our women's health therapists specialize in treating women with prenatal and postpartum musculoskeletal conditions, urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain disorders. We also provide physical therapy for women after mastectomy or breast reconstruction. With advanced techniques, such as sEMG (surface electromyography) biofeedback, we are able to treat patients successfully and efficiently.
Certified Lymphedema Management
Lymphedema management helps decrease abnormal accumulation of protein-rich fluids from patients' arms, legs, neck and genital area. A highly skilled certified lymphedema therapist, with experience in LeDuc and CDT/Vodder methods, provides one-on-one treatment individualized to each patient's needs, including manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging, education and exercises to increase lymph flow and decrease edema.
