The Nutrition Program at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) is dedicated to helping individuals make wise food choices and develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.

Our program provides assistance to individuals who would like to lose weight or improve their health by eating better.

Staffed by registered dietitians, our program can provide knowledgeable nutritional support for those with special health conditions-cancer, obesity, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease-that can be prevented or managed through lifestyle changes and healthier habits. Our program offers compassionate support for people living with a chronic illness, patients recovering from a heart attack or bariatric surgery, expectant mothers, and individuals who would like to lose weight, lower their cholesterol and blood pressure, or simply learn to follow a healthful diet.

Expert Nutrition Counseling

During your first visit to our Nutrition Program, a registered dietitian will review your medical history, current eating habits and personal wellness goals, and then develop an individualized nutrition plan. Our goal is to help you make gradual, long-term changes in your eating habits and lifestyle, providing encouraging support and advice along the way.

As a participant in our Nutrition Program, you will learn how to read food labels, modify recipes and make smarter choices when planning meals, grocery shopping and eating out. You will find answers to your questions about fad diets and weight-loss myths.

The importance of physical activity, portion control and balanced meals in meeting and maintaining your health-improvement goals will be discussed.

Certified Nutrition Specialists

The nutrition professionals at UMCPP are registered licensed dietitians with undergraduate degrees in human nutrition. Many of our nutritionists have earned master's degrees in their field or completed advanced training in a subspecialty such as pediatric nutrition, renal nutrition, diabetes or weight management. As members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, our staff keeps up to date with the latest nutrition research and continuing education to enhance their knowledge and skills.
