Plainsboro, a unit of Princeton HealthCare System, has been a leading teaching

University
Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) is the cornerstone of a
171-acre healthcare campus off Route 1, extending from Scudders Mill Road to
Plainsboro Road and from Plainsboro Road to the Millstone River, in the
community of Plainsboro Township, N.J. The health campus includes a new
hospital, attached medical office building, education center, skilled nursing
facility, and park. Other uses that will help to enhance the health well-being of Central Jersey
residents include a health and
fitness center, long-term care facility and assisted living facility, and the possibility of a pediatric services center.
Established in 1919, the new University Medical
Center of Princeton at Plainsboro facility has 231 single patient rooms
with welcoming décor and amenities that reduce stress and anxiety, while
minimizing hospital-acquired infections, improving patient safety, enhancing
privacy, improving communications and confidentiality, and speeding recovery. As a
University Hospital Affiliate of the prestigious University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and a Clinical
Research Affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey, University Medical
Center of Princeton at Plainsboro integrates our care with advanced technologies, diagnostics
and treatment protocols. UMCPP is also a member of the Association of American
Medical College's prestigious Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems
(COTH).
In July 2009, UMCPP entered into an exciting
partnership with The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to enhance
pediatric services available at the hospital through pediatric emergency
consultation, inpatient pediatric care and neonatal care, as part of CHOP
Newborn & Pediatric Care at UMCPP. Since September 2011,
University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro has partnered with Penn
Medicine to offer advanced care for expectant mothers in need of specialized
services and round-the-clock access to board certified obstetricians, maternal
fetal medicine specialists, anesthesiologists, neonatologists and
pediatricians, through Penn Maternal Fetal Medicine at UMCPP.
Indicative of our exceptional clinical care, UMCPP was named one of the nation’s Top Performers for the second straight year on Key Quality Measures by
The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations
in America. The Joint Commission recognizes accredited hospitals and critical access hospitals that attain
and sustain excellence in accountability measure performance. UMCPP is the only
hospital in this region, and one of only 12 in New Jersey to earn this
recognition from The Joint Commission. Once again, we are in the same company
as the Mayo Clinic Health System and Cleveland Clinic Florida.
UMCPP has earned national accreditation
recognizing the excellence of its full spectrum of breast care, from preventive
services such as mammography to the most advanced cancer treatments. The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program
administered by the American College of Surgeons, awarded the three-year full
accreditation to the breast care services provided at UMCPP and the UMCPP
Breast Health Center in East Windsor.
In addition to this recognition, UMCPP is a
state-recognized Primary Stroke Center. We also have a skilled medical staff
that includes a high percentage of board certified physicians.

In November 2012, UMCPP achieved Magnet® status, the highest institutional recognition available for nursing excellence.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the
American Nurses Association, developed the Magnet Recognition Program®
to acknowledge superior patient care, nursing excellence and innovations
in professional nursing practice. UMCPP is one of 395 Magnet-recognized
organizations, that represent less than 5 percent of hospitals
nationwide.
