Susan Lorenz, DrNP, RN, NEC-BC, EDAC, is Vice President of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer of Princeton HealthCare System. She is also a member of the Administrative team. Ms. Lorenz is responsible for the strategic management of the Department of Nursing, Cardiac and Pulmonary Services and Patient Relations at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro. This includes recruitment and retention initiatives, development of clinical excellence and support of new hospital-based programs.
Ms. Lorenz previously held the position of Chief Nursing Officer at Warminster Hospital in Pennsylvania. Her responsibilities included the operations and strategic direction of the Department of Nursing, Vascular Services/Wound Care and Rehabilitation Services for the 151-bed acute care community hospital. During her tenure, Ms. Lorenz worked on the development of the hospital’s strategic plan to deliver high-quality, senior services, developed and opened an acute care unit for the elderly and developed a bronchoscopy suite that increased volume by 100 percent.
Prior to joining Warminster Hospital, Ms. Lorenz served as Director of Oncology Services and Women’s Health at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Nurse Manager and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Critical Care at the National Institutes of Health and as a consultant to the American Healthcare Institute.
Ms. Lorenz earned her doctorate in nursing practice at Drexel University in June of 2009. She has a business of nursing post master’s certificate from Johns Hopkins University, her master of nursing degree in critical care from Widener University and a bachelor of nursing degree from Edinboro University.
Princeton HealthCare System (PHCS) is a nonprofit organization that includes University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, Princeton House Behavioral Health, Princeton Rehabilitation, Princeton HomeCare, University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro Surgical Center, and Princeton Medicine. PHCS is a
joint venture partner in Princeton Endoscopy Center and Princeton Fitness & Wellness Center locations in Princeton and Plainsboro. University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro is an acute care, teaching community hospital and a university hospital affiliate of Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. It is a clinical research affiliate of Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the only facility in the state designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. PHCS also operates several additional affiliates including Princeton HealthCare System Occupational Medicine Services, Princeton HealthCare Management Services, and Princeton Medical Properties. The system has more than 3,000 employees, approximately 45 residents and fellows from the Robert Wood Johnson Residency Training Programs, and an active medical staff of 1,000 physicians and dentists.
