Laboratory Services

The Department of Laboratories at University Medical Center at Princeton offers a wide range of clinical testing procedures, using state-of-the-art instruments to provide physicians and their patients with timely, accurate results. Each year, the department performs more than 900,000 laboratory tests. Services include phlebotomy, clinical chemistry, clinical hematology, clinical microbiology, blood banking and histology.

The laboratories offer convenient hours for outpatient testing at three different sites:

  Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• UMCP Laboratory Patient Service Center -- NEW LOCATION!

  Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Physician offices throughout Central New Jersey refer patients for routine screening tests as well as complicated diagnostic procedures. Patient insurance information is required for all test order requests.

The department’s Point-of-Care testing program brings advanced diagnostic testing to the patient’s bedside to expedite the testing process. The expanding outreach program provides services for long-term care facilities, home healthcare providers and physician offices throughout the Central Jersey region.
