Enhancing the Education Mission in the 21st Century

The Education Center will be the vital hub of learning for medical residents, fellows, students, physicians, nurses, therapists, patients and their families, and community members at the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro.

The high-tech Center will include:

• A medical library that will provide print, web-based and digital media materials for staff professionals, physicians, nurses, medical residents and fellows, patients, their family and friends, as well as members of the general public.  The library also will serve as a resource center for our Community Education and Outreach Program, which currently reaches nearly 30,000 participants annually.
• A total-media seminar room, several classrooms, and a number of smaller conference rooms and offices that will accommodate a range of professional, staff, and public audiences, and an educational resource center will serve the needs of patients and family members.
• A state-of-the-art clinical simulation laboratory that will be among the most advanced medical training facilities in the nation.
• High-speed, wireless communications that will create an education center without physical boundaries.

University Medical Center at Princeton is the longest standing teaching affiliate of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and its role continues to grow. In 2007, 45 residents and fellows, and 68 physicians held teaching appointments at UMDNJ.
