The ED, with comprehensive digital imaging and diagnostics capabilities, modern interventional procedures suite with operating rooms, cardiac catheterization and vascular laboratories, will have specialty areas to provide pediatric, behavioral health, elderly patient needs, as well as less-acute care services. The section in the ED for seniors will include six geriatric beds/stations and an exam room for geriatric patients. A rapid medical evaluation unit and "results-waiting" space will enhance the patient experience and reduce wait time.  Emergency helicopter transport will be available.

  • The Bristol-Myers Squibb Community Healthcare Center will enhance comprehensive community healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured residents, including mental health services for patients whose physical illnesses are complicated by mental health problems. The Center will have expanded hours.  The Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation grant also will support education and outreach programs at a satellite location (281 Witherspoon Street), with healthcare information, bi-lingual personnel and free transportation to the new hospital.
  • The new hospital will follow U.S. Green Building Council guidelines for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard---conserving energy, minimizing impact on the surroundings, and providing the best conditions for patient care and recovery; approximately $60 million is being spent on sustainable design that not only creates a healthier environment, but also enables the hospital to achieve energy operating cost savings of 25 percent of what the hospital would have spent if it were constructed with conventional energy infrastructure
  • 100 percent fresh air in patient areas to minimize spread of disease from certain events, such as bio-terrorism attack or airborne epidemic
  • 32-acre public park along Millstone River
  • Ample, free parking on site
