New Hospital Will Strengthen Clinic Care

The Bristol-Myers Squibb Community Healthcare Center will be a state-of-the art clinic centrally located within the new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, designed to provide enhanced healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured residents.

There are 21,000 patient visits per year to the current PHCS community healthcare center. That number is expected to increase when the hospital moves closer to the center of the hospital's service area.

Moving the clinic with the hospital will allow direct access to state-of-the-art services. Patients will be able to continue to receive timely care for urgent issues such as heart disease, as well as chronic conditions such as cancer, diabetes and orthopedic problems. The clinic will also expand its hours.

In addition, the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation grant also will support education and outreach programs at a satellite location at 281 Witherspoon Street.  This location will be a neighborhood healthcare information center staffed by bi-lingual personnel.  Free transportation arrangements can be made through the center to the new hospital. 

UMCP has always provided a single, high standard of care for all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. The Bristol-Myers Squibb Community Health Center in the new hospital will continue to set new standards of care for medically underserved members of our community.
