Princeton IVF Laboratory

Princeton IVF Laboratory, a partnership between University Medical Center at Princeton and Princeton IVF in Lawrenceville, is dedicated to helping couples with infertility issues and recurrent early pregnancy losses realize their dreams of having a child.

Many women experience infertility issues. About one-quarter of married women in the United States who do not have children have difficulties having children, and more than one in 10 women of childbearing age have this problem -- more than 7 million American women all told, federal research shows. Moreover, nearly 12 percent of women who already have a child experience difficulties having more children, the National Survey of Family Growth reports.

Princeton IVF Laboratory, featuring two of the area's leading fertility specialists, can help improve your chances of success.

Princeton IVF Laboratory is led by Medical and Practice Director Seth Derman, MD, FACOG , board certified in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics/gynecology, and Robin Hilsenrath, MD, FACOG , board certified in obstretrics/gynecology. Both are fellowship trained in reproductive endocrinology.

At Princeton IVF Laboratory, you will be treated to the utmost in personalized attention and care. Our physicians personally do most ultrasounds and intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedures, as well as all in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures, and take great pride in providing compassionate, personalized care.

Our specialists also work closely with your OB/GYN, transitioning you back to their care for the remainder of your pregnancy.

The Science of Success

IVF labs are tightly controlled environments, built to exacting scientific standards. From its state-of-the-art equipment and special air handling and filtrations system, to the use of low-emissions paints and finishes, everything about Princeton IVF Laboratory has been carefully engineered to improve pregnancy rates.

Our 1,000-square-foot IVF lab consists of four rooms:

  • Procedure room for egg retrieval and embryo transfer
  • Recovery room
  • Embryology laboratory where sperm and egg are processed and cultured
  • Cryopreservation and storage room for embryo preservation

Because infertility research has shown that room air and the lab environment are critically important components of whether in vitro fertilization treatments are successful, Princeton IVF Laboratory takes advantage of the latest in "clean room technology," designed with the assistance of a world-renowned environmental chemist, to help achieve exceptional results for people who are trying to conceive a child.

A specialized ventilation and HVAC system allows for improved air quality, flow and temperature control. Air quality is further enhanced by the use of eco-friendly, low VOC (volatile organic compounds) paints and building materials.

This type of technology can have an enormous impact on embryo quality, survival and clinical outcomes of IVF treatment, research has shown.
