Volunteer Opportunities for High School Students

Princeton-057200Each year, more than 700 students from area high schools provide service to PHCS. To be considered, applicants must be at least a sophomore (grade 10) in high school. Applicants will not be accepted once their senior year begins.  A completed application must be submitted for consideration.

    APPLICATION PACKET:

1.) Completed application form with parental or guardian signature on the application.

2.) Transcript release form (return with the application -- do not give to your counselor).

3.) At least one recommendation letter (a character reference, involving traits such as cooperation, reliability, and initiative from a personal or professional source; please exclude relatives and your guidance counselor).

To download an application packet, click here.  Upon receipt of a complete application packet, we will contact your school for sealed credentials.  With receipt of all materials, accepted junior candidates will be invited to attend an orientation session.  Please note that this process may take some time. We are experiencing a large influx of applicants and everyone will be processed accordingly.  An interview with a Volunteer Services Department staff member will determine placement and specific training needs.  Our required uniform policy includes a blue volunteer jacket that is available for a nominal fee from the Volunteer office.

To obtain follow-up volunteer documentation (letters, certificates, reports, volunteer hours, etc.), a commitment of 50 hours over four consecutive months, regardless of other lesser requirements from school or other activities, is required. Juniors are scheduled for one three-hour shift per week between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday. PHCS has an active group of volunteers, providing the best possible experience for patients and families. We are pleased that you are considering PHCS for your volunteer service and look forward to meeting you.  For additional information, call 609.497.4273.

Merit awards are available to high-school seniors who have completed 250 hours and 24 months of service.
