Centers of Care

Elevation-Full-2

The new University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro will offer specific Centers of Care focused on providing unparalleled treatment in a sophisticated setting designed by internationally renowned consultants.  These Centers will be conveniently located off the main concourse of the new University Medical Center or in other appropriate areas within the hospital.

Most hospitals are built around the concept of inpatient care, but today the majority of healthcare is delivered on an outpatient basis.

With specific Centers of Care, the new hospital will enable patients to move through the healthcare system in as personal, friendly and efficient a way as possible. For example, in the old healthcare model, chemotherapy and radiation were organized in two separate services in two different locations. In the new Edward and Marie Matthews Center for Cancer Care, patients will come to one location for all their treatment.

The new Centers of Care will focus on the following areas:

  • Cancer Care (The Edward and Marie Matthews Center for Cancer Care)
  • Cardiac & Pulmonary Care (The George and Estelle Sands Center for Cardiac and Pulmonary Care)
  • Neuroscience
  • Maternal and Newborn Care
  • Surgery
  • Emergency Services
  • Testing and Treatment
