Women's Wellness Program

Location: Princeton

The Women's Wellness Program is for individuals suffering from symptoms of depression or anxiety brought about or worsened by life stressors of particular significance to women. Women are especially vulnerable to developing emotional difficulties as they face life transitions, cope with the multiple and conflicting demands of home, family and work, experience threats to bodily integrity and self-image, and during times of relational conflict or loss. The overriding goals of the program are to prevent worsening of symptoms and of future relapse through the fostering of resiliency, by integration of mind and body, and through the development of lifestyle balance. Women are empowered to take charge of their health and of their lives.

Program goals include:

  • Overcoming symptoms of depression and anxiety through medications prescribed by a psychiatrist sensitive to the interplay of psychopharmacology, gender and body image
  • Teaching basic strategies for reducing anxiety and enhancing mood and esteem
  • Creating awareness of mind-body connections in maintaining physical and emotional health
  • Teaching relationship enhancing skills
  • Facilitating increased attention to self-care and self-nurturing
